Why? Why? Why? Another Credit Union in the News.

Right in my back yard. A teller was secretly duplicating member debit cards an running up purchases totaling $11,000.

My heart and thoughts go out to the credit union and its staff that now has to undo the damage that this individual caused the credit union.

We know that internal theft is a serious issue and it seems almost daily we hear about another employee who tries to make a little extra on the sly. I don’t really have much more to say here as this is breaking news in our area.

I only fear that this will cast a shadow over the rest of the hard working and honest credit unions in the area.

Update: Video clips of the news broadcast show the reporter on the scene asking the credit union members their opinion about the teller. Most were shocked and had not heard the report. Some knew the teller as their “Personal Teller” and we visibly distraught. A few people said that they are now concerned if they should keep or close their accounts.

All of the members said they always thought she was a very nice girl.
