Friday Fun - Brilliant or Disturbing Things for Breakfast?
So, sometimes during my journeys online, I come across new products. At Costco a few weeks ago I found raw tortillas that you take home and cook yourself when you are ready to eat. They are awesome! Probably the best tortillas I have ever bought. The idea behind premade yet raw tortillas is so simple that it is brilliant.
Then there are products like the Organic Batter Blaster. I am not quite sure how I feel about this product. It seems to fill a hole that I didn’t know was there.
For those of you who don’t know. I can cook. In fact, I do most of the cooking at my house. I get up and cook saturday breakfast which sometimes may contain waffles or pancakes. While making the batter, I have never once said to myself “I wish someone would make pancake batter and put it into a whipped cream can.” At least not that I can remember.
Here is their commercial. The first time I saw this I thought it was fake. But, I guarantee you, this is absolutely real.
So now, being someone who enjoys cooking and doesn’t mind throwing a few eggs and flour and milk together to make some pancakes, I find this a very odd product. But I I’ll give them this. They are handling their PR well. They have people on various websites saying that their canned pancakes are the best they have ever had. They have been featured on television. They are sold at some Southern California Costco warehouse stores. They have been on Digg a few times and are making all the social media stops. They have their website humming and they actually have a MySpace page. Whoever is running their marketing is rocking the box. They are all over youtube and if you google them you will find over 32,000 references. So, for better or worse, even though this may be the first sign of the apocalypse or the reason the rest of the world hates us – canned pancakes seem to be the wave of the future.

OK, I’m sorry but this invention will change my life.
I wish I were kidding.
Tony, I didn’t have your correct feed for some reason. My bad for dropping off the face of your blog; I thought you’d been taking a couple month break!
Jeffry, for some reason, the batter in a jug seems less offensive that batter in an aerosol can. I will say that the more I think about it, the more I want to try it though!
Trey, LOL I guess it would be handy for the guy on the go. I have got to find these though. I have family in SoCal (one actually works at Costco). I wonder if they would ship some to me to test out. I hear they are good.
And, just because I cook doesn’t mean that I am a healthy eater (I have a healthy appetite, but not a healthy diet). So I would try it out “for scientific purposes” - but to me, this is on par with Kidney Mousse in an aerosol can - YIKES!
If I can get my hands on some, I will report back with a review ![]()

There’s another major consumer-products company selling pancake batter in a (non-aerosol) squeeze bottle. P&G or someone like that. It’s got a nice-looking package with the typical “mom-in-a-rush-gets-loved-by-family” formula advertising.
